The wonderful, traditionally-animated feature The Secret of Kells is playing in multiple cities across the US, including Los Angeles (at the Landmark on Pico). Granny O’Grimm, who stars in the award-winning CG/2D short Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty, has cooked up a rather unique persepctive on Santa Claus. Just know that whatever happens, it’s all your own fault. This holiday gem is from Dublin-based Brown Bag Films.
Ireland’s most prominent animation studio, Cartoon Saloon, recently wrapped up a 4-part mini-series focusing on Irish music. Anam an Amhráin was produced for the Irish network TG4 by Sónta Teo and Cartoon Saloon. Here’s a few clips:
Brown Bag Films’ 6-minute short film Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty is now available online. The film, which was recently short-listed for the 2010 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, was written and voiced by Kathleen O’Rourke and directed by Nicky Phelan.
The award-winning Irish feature film The Secret of Kells hits theaters in March 2010, and if you’re lucky enough to be within a tank-of-gas from Burbank, you can also see the film now. It’s currently playing at the AMC Burbank 8 until December 10th.
Adrien Merigeau’s animated short Old Fangs looks like a real gem. The gang at Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon (The Secret Of Kells) began producing the film in mid-2008, and Adrien has been faithfully posting about his short on a production blog.
