A new dialog-free short, titled Cinq Point Hein, is now in distribution in France, playing in theaters for The Week of Sound. It’s directed by former Gobelins students Chloé Bury, Daniel Ferretti, Maïté Xia and Mathilde Le Moal, along with supervising director Aïda del Solar.
Put on your headphones for this next one – it’s a music video by Paf Paf, a team of 5 CGI designer/animators from across France. They are Corentin Bachelet, Gilles Cortella, Augustin Clermont, Adrien Jalade and Juliette Grandjonc, many of whom are attending Gobelins in Paris. The track is from the Canadian band Misteur Valaire. Très Magnifique!
Oni is a short animated FX test created by Augustin Clermont, Guillaume Dousse, Thibaud Petipas, Adrien Gromelle and Cyrille Chauvin, students at Gobelins in Paris. You’ll see the team sharpening their smoke, fire, snow and sword slice skills.
Remember The Night We Were Kings? Well you can’t, cuz it’s brand new. Below is a new dialog-free short from a team of 5 Goblins students – Chloé Nicolay, Manddy Wyckens, Anthony Lejeune, Gaspard Sumeire and Léa Justum. Youngters in love, expressing their rage! [NSFW - very tasteful nudity]
Four first-year animators at l’Ecole des Gobelins directed this new animated short, titled My Bloody Lad, about a boy who gets a zombie for his birthday. Working under the team name of DeadWalter, Cyrille Chauvin, Guillaume Dousse, Thibaud Petitpas and Pierre Rutz produced the video in about a month in conjunction with the team at Wizzprod°.
This elaborate short below, titled Fur, was directed by De François Barreau, Marion Delannoy, Claire Fauvel, Rachid Guendouze, Vincent Nghiem and Benoit Tranchet, all students at Gobelins in Paris. We meet a wolf man who rises up against the segregation that separates him from mankind. Perhaps if there is one knock against the film is the lack of a twist or a clever end. It’s an enjoyable reveal, but not satisfying. One stylistic element that I’d like to point out is the fluid shape that the town’s guards take during their chase of the wolf.
Get your head on straight and aim your eyes below. This new student film, Who’s Afraid of Mr Greedy?, demands your attention. We meet a man who is in search of his identity, and an evil ogre who stands in his way. The 4-minute, traditionally-animated short was directed by Simon Boucachard, Jean Baptiste Cumont, Sylvain Fabre, Guillaume Fesquet, Adeline Grange, Maxime Mary and Julien Rossire, all students at Gobelins in Paris. There’s much to enjoy here, but I particularly enjoyed watching the delicate hand animation starting around the 2:15 point and again at 2:25.
