Behind the Scenes on Glenn Martin, DDS

posted by Aaron

Earlier this month it was announced that Nick at Nite’s new stop-motion series Glenn Martin, DDS would be back for a second season, with 20 new episodes. The series eminates from Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation, and it’s produced by Cuppa Coffee. My good friend Dan Wolf and his family recently visited the studio and snapped a few Lineboil Exclusive photos! Thanks, Dan. Nothing earth-shattering, but it’s always fun to look behind the scenes. And if you didn’t already see it, we posted an interview with series co-creator Eric Fogel last month.

Interview with Glenn Martin, DDS Co-Creator Eric Fogel

Stop motion animation is enjoying a major revival these days. Projects like Coraline, Mary and Max, $9.99 and the upcoming The Fantastic Mr. Fox have combined to make 2009 the year of the stop motion animated feature. However, the medium doesn’t appear on TV all too often, presumably because of the painstaking animation process. There’s Robot Chicken, Moral Orel and the upcoming Titan Maximum, but you’d be hard pressed to recall many more.

You’ll likely remember Celebrity Deathmatch, the stop motion TV series created by Eric Fogel that enjoyed a 75 episode run. Well, Fogel returns this year with Glenn Martin, DDS, a series he co-created with former Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Alex Berger. Animated at Cuppa Coffee Studios, the 22-minute comedy follows the adventures of a traveling dentist and his family. The series is currently airing on Nick at Nite on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). We recently grabbed a few minutes from Eric’s busy schedule for an interview, but first here’s a clip from the episode titled Pimp My RV:

Toronto-based Cuppa Coffee is handling the 20 episode order of Nick at Nite’s new, stop-motion, family-comedy series Glenn Martin, DDS. The show was co-created by Alex Berger and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner. Eric Fogel (Celebrity Deathmatch) is the supervising director and Michael Jamin and Sivert Glarum, two King of the Hill vets, are showrunners. There’s no official premiere date yet, but it’s due out this summer. Here’s a clip and a featurette:
