Disney/Pixar just released a new promo clip for Cars 2 which spoofs a number of popular US-market TV series, like Law and Auto: SUV, Dancing With The Cars, Dr. Fill It Up and American Idle. The CG sequel is in US theaters on June 24th.

I was starting to wonder when stop-motion master Patrick Boivin would resurface, and then today we get this…. a Cars 2 trailer created entirely out of Lego pieces. Brilliant stuff, which was commissioned by Disney/Pixar and the team at Lego.

Drafting off the deafening Royal wedding hoopla, the Cars 2 promotional team has assembled a new trailer. The feature is in US theaters, or “cinemas” as they say in royal England, on June 24, 2011.

As many of your know, John Lasseter, who hasn’t directed a feature-length film since Cars in 2006, is helming the sequel. Due out on June 24th of this year, the concept for Cars 2 has deep roots that go back to the development years of the original. Here’s Lasseter himself detailing how the project emerged:
