Saddle up for a magical pony ride, animation fans. Here’s a new CG animated student film emerging from The Animation Workshop in Viborg. Space Stallions was directed by Thorvaldur S. Gunnarsson, Jonatan Brüsch, Ágúst Kristinsson, Arna Snæbjørnsdottir, Esben J. Jespersen, Touraj Khosravi and Polina Bokhan. You have my permission to sing along – fist pump!
Second year studetns at the Denmark-based school The Animation Workshop were recently challenged to create animated trailers inspired by classic films. Here’s 2 of my favorites:
Grossbutt or Citizen Kane (inspired by Orson Welle’s film of the same name)
Mon Oncle (inspired by Jacques Tati’s film of the same name)
Mikkel Mainz directed this animated PSA during his studies at the Animation Workshop in Viborg. Tine Rinberg, a third-year student, was the animation lead on the project. In the spot, titled Fair?, the students teamed up with the Animals Welfare Society in Denmark to shed light on the poor conditions at the mink farms in Denmark.
I just spotted a new graduation film out Denmark’s Animation Workshop. Captain Awesome is the creation of Ercan Bozdogan, Mikkel Aabenhuus Sørensen, Andreas Husballe, Jonas Mølgaard Jensen, Ninni Munch Pettersson and Lars Kramhøft.
The latest out of The Animation Workshop in Denmark is a CG student short titled The Saga Of Biorn. This well-acted, 7-minute warrior short is quite the collaborative effort – produced by students Benjamin J. Kousholt, Daniel D. Christensen, Mads Lundgaard Christensen, Jesper A. Jensen, Jonas K. Doctor, Steffen Lyhne, Pernille Ørum-Nielsen, Frederik Bjerre-Poulsen and Jonas Georgakakis.
Next year, the latest live-action film Conan will arrive in theaters, further perpetuating the tale of the muscle-bound barbarian. Theaters will also welcome another barbarian – Ronal. He’s the star of a new, Danish CG film from the creators of Terkel in Trouble, titled Ronal the Barbarian. Like Terkel, this film is not aimed at a family audience, and it’s billed with the tagline “Babes, Balls and Muscles – in 3D.” Directed by Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, the 90 comedy doesn’t have a release date yet, but we now have our first trailer.
