Here’s the latest promo for FOX’s new animated series The Cleveland Show. It focuses on Cleveland’s step-son Rallo, who, like Cleveland, is voiced by Mike Henry:
Here’s a new clip from The Cleveland Show, which premieres on FOX on September 27, 2009. First there’s an ad that plays, then a clip of Cleveland and his neighbor, Tim, the closet-smoker bear. The bear’s wife is played by Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post). I think Huffington is pretty tremendeous as a person, but her acting is nothing short of wooden. I suppose there’s some Arnold Schwarzenegger charm in there, but her performance pulls me out of the show.
Saturday at last month’s Comic-Con in San Diego should have just been called Seth MacFarlane day. Starting at 11:15am, he and the cast of Family Guy took to the stage in Ballroom 20 (giggity) to discuss the upcoming Empire Strikes Back parody (Something, Something, Something Dark Side) and, of all things, James Woods. Plus, :40 seconds into the clip, Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin) and Seth Green (Chris Griffin) make passionate love. So there’s that. As that panel wrapped up, MacFarlane stuck around for the 12:00 The Cleveland Show panel. In the second clip below, Mike Henry (series co-creator) gives his take on how this spin-off series came to be, while MacFarlane announces that Something, Something, Something Dark Side will feature cast members from all three of his FOX series (there was also an American Dad panel on Sunday).
The Cleveland Show, which debuts this Fall on FOX, is just another spin-off in a long line of TV experiments. Rhoda emerged from Mary Tyler Moore, The Jeffersons sprung from All in the Family, and who can forget the Friends spin-off – Joey?
Be that as it may, I suspect The Cleveland Show will lead to additional Family Guy mutations, making it the Law & Order of the animated world. How about Family Guy: Giggity Unit? An extended teaser is below:
Also, here’s the video FOX showed at the upfronts.
The cast from all three of Seth MacFarlane’s shows, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show (Fall 2009) and American Dad, discuss Earth Day in this Table Talk segment below. Both shows bow new episodes this Sunday, starting at 9/8c on FOX.
According to an article in Mediaweek, FOX’s long-running animated series King of the Hill will be coming to an end. But Mike Judge’s show will get it’s curtain call this season with new episodes, alongside American Dad, which was just renewed for a 5th season. Fox is also ramping up to launch two new animated series, Seth MacFarlane’s third series, The Cleveland Show, and Sit Down, Shut Up, a project from Mitchell Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development. Promos for both are below:
