Dante’s Inferno Super Bowl Spot: CBS Tells EA to Go To Hell

posted by Aaron

Blocking access to Super Bowl viewers, CBS has apparently rejected this new TV spot for EA’s upcoming game Dante’s Inferno. But today I read that EA will get it’s way – after changing the tag line at the end to “Hell Awaits.” Blur Studio animated the ad.

It’s not dissimilar from the TV spot Psyop did for the game about a year ago:

In related news, Film Roman is releasing a 2D-animated DVD based on the game in a few weeks. You can see a trailer for Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic here.

The Opus Movie That Never Was

posted by Aaron

For several years now, there’s been talk of an Opus feature emerging from Miramax or The Weinstein Company. The prospect of this happening was eventually quashed by the comic’s creator Berkeley Breathed, but today I spotted a 2005 test for Opus: The Last Christmas by Blur Studios. What you see below was directed by Paul Taylor (The Nutty Professor), with art direction by Dan Rice. Leo Santos was the animation supervisor.

Blur and Fincher Team For Powell’s Goon

posted by Aaron

The LA Times has featured an interview with Eric Powell, the creator of the hit comic book property The Goon. David Fincher, the award-winning director behind live-action feature films like Se7en, Panic Room and Zodiac, has put his weight behind a CGI feature adaptation of the Dark Horse comic. Blur Studios was then tossed into the mix, along with in-house director Tim Miller.
