Bertram is new short directed by Lára Gardarsdóttir, Michael Mauritzen and Karen Johansson. They created the film during their studies at The Animation Workshop in Denmark. We meet Bertram, “a little boy, who, while struggling with his homework, dreams himself into the future where he experiences how it is to be a pilot, a zoo keeper and other amazing things.”
Strong work continues to emerge from The Animation Workshop in Denmark. Here’s two more shorts:

From Alaska To Kenya is one of the latest student shorts to emerge from The Animation Workshop in Denmark. We follow an intrepid explorer who has his eyes set on some big, international game. It was directed by Lars Hummelshøj, Maahir Pandie, Jens Christian Larsen and Rune Ryberg. The film actually starts off with some live-action set-up, but it’s in Danish, so in this embed below, I’ve started off at the animation section. My apologies to the directors for truncating the beginning of the film.
Here’s a pair of dream-themed shorts that have emerged from The Animation Workshop in Denmark.
Sweet Dreams – directed by Margit Rosenaa and Sten Platz
Dharma Dreameater – directed by Edda Hronn Kristinsdottir, Rasmus L. Møller
Christophe Peladan’s stop-motion short Goutte d’Or (Shower of Gold) isn’t quite finished yet, but he’s offering us a tease of what’s to come in early autumn of this year. And, yes, the English translation of the title made me do a double take too. Fear not – very safe for work. Peladan is working in conjunction with The Animation Workshop in Denmark. We’ll keep you updated as the film, a “poetic musical” no less, moves toward completion….
The LumberJack is yet another fine graduation from The Animation Workshop, an art school in Denmark. The story is an examination of the effects of technology on work, nature and the way we live. The 4:30 minute traditionally-animated film was directed and designed by Laura Büchert Schjødt, who animated along with Per Klausen, Sarah-Mia T. Nielsen, Louise Bergholt Sørensen and Frederik Villumsen.
Elk Hair Caddis is a highly-entertaining, new graduate film created by Peter Smith, Alice Holme, Anders Brogaard and Magnus Moller, all students at The Animation Workshop in Denmark. The 4-minute CG-short is chock-full of energetic, rubbery gags and it also appears they’ve composited photographs of stop-motion sets into the piece. “Caddis,” if you’re wondering, is a type of bait used for fishing.
