G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hits theaters on August 7th, and in the run-up to the big release, Hasbro has begun rolling out an online, animated series titled G.I. Joe: Resolute. The series is currently exclusive on AdultSwim.com (which is nearly impossible to navigate), and after the finale drops on April 25th, the project will be prepped for a DVD release. The series was written by Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan) and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (Justice League Unlimited) at Titmouse Inc. (who just launched a brand new website!) Here’s the trailer:
Season 6 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force is under way on Adult Swim (next episode Shake Like Me airs on April 5th at 11:45pm ET), and to help get perspective on the past 5 seasons, the cast and crew of the show have created of Top 10 list. Over at adultswim.com folks like co-creator Matt Maiellaro and voice actor (Master Shake) Dana Snyder offer their preferences in the list of Best Aqua Teen Episodes Picked By the Creators. Co-creator Dave Willis weighed in and voted Dickesode (season 4) his favorite, and below is a clip featuring Dr. Wongburger (shudder):
Details have emerged about the release of the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD, which will hit the shelves on July 21st. The release will include 15 minutes of new footage and over 90 minutes of bonus features. Here’s a clip titled “Emperor at the barber” that features the vocal stylings of Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, as the Emperor. The segment was animate by Liz Harvatine.
Here’s a little behind the scenes featurette as well:
Tomorrow, the DVD of the third season of The Venture Bros. goes on sale, and included on the DVD comes with deleted scenes, and an animatic from an episode, which you can see below. The show, which is animated at World Leaders Entertainment, currently airs on Adult Swim.
Adult Swim’s Xavier: Renegade Angel is currently running a Make Your Own Xavier contest, that invites artists to submit their own short film (90-seconds max) based on the show. The team has supplied 100mb of show assets for you to play with, which include CG character models and textures. BUT – the deadline is March 15th – so get crackin! Here’s a clip from the show.
Drinky the Crow began his life in Tony Millionaire’s bleak-but-hilarious comic strip Maakies, which is syndicated in newspapers like The Village Voice, the Chicago Reader and Seattle’s The Stranger. Whether or not this makes Adult Swim the LA Weekly of television I don’t know, but the new TV series The Drinky Crow Show is definitely not ready for prime time. Let’s see why:
The show features buckets full of gunplay, blood, suicide, vomiting, incest and, of course, drinking – which ain’t for everyone.
If the grotesque and gratitious is for you, aim your remote control at Adult Swim at 12:45 AM on Sunday nights. If not, maybe you should go watch another episode of Ghost Whisperer.
While the subject matter pushes the limits, there’s surely nothing grotesque about the production values of the series, which may be remembered as one of the shows that helped push CG animation art direction to new heights. Challenged with keeping Millionaire’s detailed inking style in tact, the Mirari Films crew brought an aesthetic to CG that we’ve rarely (if ever) seen before – what Millionaire calls “a Sunday newspaper comic come to life.” The show doesn’t “wow” us with exceptional character animation or acting prowess (are you familiar with Adult Swim’s anemic budgets?), but the look and feel surely made me rethink what a CG show can look like.
We are now joined by co-creators Tony Millionaire and Eric Kaplan (who also runs Mirari Films) for an few sobering questions.
AARON SIMPSON: What about the The Drinky Crow Show makes it a fit for Adult Swim?

Devin Flynn, creator of Ya’ll So Stupid, and director of Dance Floor Dale has directed a music video for The Alchemist called Lose Your Life.
He and his teammates Seth Cooper and Joe Kossuth completed the job in only six weeks! Devin has a raw style and some of the best ideas I’ve seen in animation. He was nice enough to answer a few questions for LineBoil about the video.
BRENDAN: Did you storyboard this video, or go straight ahead with your ideas?
