OK Go’s Inspirational Celebrational Muppet Theme

OK Go, the creative musicians who made the music video fun again, have teamed with The Muppets for a remake of The Muppet Show Theme song. This is hardly the band’s first pair-up with classic puppet clan. Kermit appeared in one of their earlier videos and they appeared at the Webby Awards last year with Animal.

Plankton Invasion Takes Aim at TV

Joeri Christiaen, an animator on The Triplets of Belleville, has cooked up a high-minded web series that imagines a tiny army of plankton helping global warming take over our planet. He designed, wrote, directed and animated each of the six episodes of Plankton Invasion, and now his creation is being turned into a TV series for Canal+. Yes – lead with the fart joke. Noone can resist the fart joke. I did laugh at this new TV trailer for Despicable Me, the new feature from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. The film is being directed by Chris Renaud, and it hits theaters on July 9, 2010.

Pepsi Refreshes Dear Anna Olson

A few months back we interviewed Dean Lennert about his quest to finish his traditionally animated short film, Dear Anna Olson, , which is a story based on a true life experience, about a lonely woman in a nursing home, who reaches out to the world by tying notes to balloons, and letting them go out her window. The film follows a red balloon released by Anna, as it passes on to three other characters, who are experiencing their own form of personal isolation.

Passion Pictures Gets Small For East Coast Trains

Passion Pictures director Darren Walsh recently teamed up with East Coast Trains, the UK transporation company that recently launched a Miniature Prices campaign, thus the miniature stop-motion characters. The agency leading the creative was Dentsu London. Here’s the spot titled Museum.

Beavis & Butt-head Inserted Into Extract Promo

To promote his new live-action feature film Extract, Mike Judge has resurected Beavis & Butt-head. They make fun of Jason Bateman’s name, talk about boobs and say things like “butt wagon.” Rare form, rare form (except Beavis’ voice – sounds a little off, no?). Extract is in theaters on September 4th.

The Ultimate WALL•E Costume

Jennifer Guthrie, a SCAD graduate in Kentucky, went above and beyond the parental obligation this year to create a WALL•E costume for her youngest. The year before, Guthrie’s oldest got to go as a Mechwarrior, a costume that was also elaborately designed. Don’t worry, this year the oldest got a good costume too. He went as another WALL•E character: a passenger from The Axiom.

The WALL-E DVD comes out November 18th.
