Aardman Animation director Steve Harding-Hill recently led a team of stop-motion masters through this new Swedbank spot. The ad, titled Under the Oak Tree, was produced almost entirely in-camera, which is a true breath of fresh air in this day of CG abundance. Hornet Inc director Peter Sluszka’s latest creation is a stop-motion spot featuring a live-action actor. It’s for the Citroen C3, and Sluska had help from animators Chris Gilligan, Matt Somma and Kevin Coyle.
Aardman director Rich Webber (Shaun the Sheep, Purple and Brown) recently directed a stop-motion spot for the snack Funcheez. The spot is titled Black Hole.
Smuggler and LAIKA/house teamed up to create a second spot for Planters, titled Tree-athlon. Like the first one, this stop-motion ad featuring Mr. Peanut was directed by Ringan Ledwidge, while Mark Gustafson served as supervising animation director.
Vicenta is a beautifully animated and designed stop-motion film about a women in search for her late husband’s lottery winnings. It’s actually a bit of a horror-film, and I won’t say any more lest I spoil the fun. The 22-minute film was produced over a 2-year period at the Spanish studio Conflictivos Productions. It was directed by Sam Orti, who received a visit at one point by the mighty Peter Lord of Aardman studios.
