Rasch Team Reveals Shot From Their Upcoming Short

Line is the title of Justin and Shel Rasch’s 15-minute stop-motion short, which is currently in production. The animation process has all been very faithfully cataloged on their blog, where you can see shots like this one below. They’ve been pulling in guest animators and interns to help with the process, which is time-consuming, to say the least. The “line” the title refers to can be seen in this shot. It’s similar to that line you drew down the middle of your bedroom when you didn’t want your sister to touch your stuff. We’ll keep you updated as the film rolls to completion:

Bond Animates Video For PHD

British-native Neil Bond directed and animated this new music video for the PHD, a hip hop crew based in Auckland. Bond crafted the video for the song All The Same using stop-motion.

The latest episode of College Humor’s IRL Files, where almost-unbelievable true stories are retold in animated form, we’re treated to a story of unexpected debauchery, revealed in film-noir style. I believe David Fishel directed and Chelsea Manifold animated. This segment is titled A Text In The Night.

Will Frankenhole Incite Indian Protests Over Gandhi Episode?

Remember this? In 2003, 150 lawmakers and political activists fasted to protest the MTV animated series Clone High. They were angry over what they saw as an inappropriate depiction of their deceased political and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi. I’m guessing the same uproar won’t occur after this Sunday’s episode (12:30 am on Adult Swim) of Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole, which sees Gandhi turned into a vampire, but that remains to be seen.

Hornet Gets Call Back from British Gas

Last year we did a couple of posts highlighting British Gas spots directed by Guilherme Marcondes over at Hornet, Inc, in NYC. This year, British Gas calls upon Hornet and Marcondes again for another round of stunning spots, starting with this one called Call Back. Returning to the helm of animating these spots in After effects are Mike Luzzi, and Frank Summers who are joined by Joe Andriola and Mark Pecoraro. Just an FYI, this spot in particular had more characters in it than any spot of the whole campaign so far, the amusement park planet itself had 50 people, and in case you wondering, that’s a helluva lot of work, and almost certainly with the same schedule as the lesser “casted” spots. Anyways, nice job you guys!

Prendergast Attracted to Gravity Music Video

Darcy Prendergast employed a small squad of animated blobs to help tell a tale of love and attraction in this music video below. It’s for Sam Buckingham’s song Gravity, and Prendergast had help from Michael Greaney, Seamus Spilsbury and Josh Thomas on the animation.

Reset – Stop-Motion Space Short From Poland

Reset is Szymon Kabala’s graduation film from his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland. It was produced in stop-motion, with a little 2001: A Space Odyssey mixed in for flavor.
