Here’s the trailer for Ursus, a new short film from Latvia’s Reinis Petersons. It’s a “story about a bear who works as an acrobat-motorcyclist in a traveling circus.” The film appears to have been produced traditionally with charcoal.

The BBC has just delivered a video profile of American animator Jeff Scher, who sees himself as a painter who animates. I think a viewing of his work illustrate why. Check out Tulips, a piece that looks at kissing (get it? “two lips”). Scher offers that “it’s one of the best things we all get to do, yet almost everyone does it with their eyes closed.” More work on his YouTube channel.
