Firestep and Kilogramme Take on Goliath

Firestep Films and Kilogramme, two UK-based production companies, teamed up to create this TV series pitch presentation for a property titled Age of Heroes. Firestep’s Steve Maher designed and directed, while John Hedley animated and composited. Here’s one of the segments they created called Goliath.

Andrew Dickman toiled on his short Ivan the Unbearable during 2006 and 2007, and finally saw it air on NickToons in 2008 as part of their Random Cartoons project. Today you can finally see his 8-minute film right here.

zoetifex Gives New Wings Hitchcock Audio

Pittsburgh-based zoetifex Studio has raised the dead. Alfred Hitchcock’s voice has been set against CG-animation in this demo for a potential new TV series. The audio was lifted from a trailer for The Birds, Hitchcock’s 1963 film.

Dork Out on Cuppa Coffee’s Nerdland

A finalist for Best TV Series at Annecy, Cuppa Coffee’s Nerdland has been viewable on their website for months now, but I recently spotted the 7-minute pilot over on Vimeo. The stop-motion series concept was generated internally by puppet maker Ted Heeley, and then after teaming up with TELETOON’s Detour the 22-minute series was set into motion. In related news, the 2nd season of Nick at Nite’s Glenn Martin DDS, which is produced at Cuppa Coffee, was just announced.

Kastelic and Bugbrain Stream Sad Stories

Slovenian director Dusan Kastelic at the Bugbrain Institute lead a small team on this pilot for a series titled Sad Stories. It’s based on Tomaz Lavric’s comics, and this heartbreaking story of canine love was animated by Igor Sinkovec. [NSFW - contains animated nudity, and buckets of urine]

Original South Park Pilot Now Online

The original Comedy Central South Park pilot is currently available for viewing over at SouthParkStudios.com. It’s not the original South Park film, which was The Spirit of Christmas – Jesus vs. Frosty, which you can see below. It’s the first half-hour show, Cartman Gets an Anal Probe, which premiered on Comedy Central in 1997. As you can see in this inset image, this episode was the only all-construction-paper produced for Comedy Central, and it’s only going to be on the site for 30 days. Also, check out the gallery of images from the production.

Check out this strange and violent trailer/pitch for an animated series by the name of Cat Shit One. It was directed by Kazuya Sasahara, and it’s based on the manga property Motofumi Kobayashi (released in the USA as Apocalypse Meow). The series is due out in 2010.

George and Paul Pilot Premieres

Ka-ching Cartoons and Pedri Animation have released a pilot for their new stop-motion series George and Paul. The prechool series is set in a world where everything is made from wooden blocks, and the two wooden pals create things, have fun and seek creative solutions to obstacles in their way. Aside from the 2-minute pilot below, you can also see full-animatics (storyboards in motion) on the official website.

Max Pilots With Only One Hand

Max et La Pogne (Max and the Hand), is a new stop-motion TV series pilot out of France. It’s your typical skate-punk, metal kid who has a hand for a friend story. The actors speak in French, and if you don’t, it shouldn’t be terribly hard to follow along. It was directed by Alex & Niko, produced by Un Monde Meilleur, and animated by Stéphane Viola.
