I’ve wondered if the band OK Go would be victims of their own success. Their music videos are so clever, and I’m now expecting each release to top the last. Apparently, they’re not victims, because this new music video is pretty amazing. It’s for their track Last Leaf, and the director Geoff Mcfetridge burned each frame of the video into toast – using a laser! I’m sure they were in the studio for ages making this one, but at least it smelled good.
Today while seeking animation goodness on yonder web, I found two brilliant examples of zoetrope animations. The first is a music video for Kraak & Smaak’s track Dynamite, which was directed and animated by Superelectric (Henk Loorbach) using a turntable zoetrope known as the phonotrope. He had some help with the phonotrope animation from the master of the phonotrope – Jim Le Fevre. The light graffiti in here is just amazing.
The next clip is out of Japan. It’s a claymation production that features some halloween themes.
World-famous graffiti writers Askew One and Deus spent 6 straight days and 300 cans of paint bringing this music video to life on the walls of a warehouse in New Zealand. It’s for the track Addicted by Bliss N Eso.
Earlier this month we featured a short segment from Mike Scott’s animated music video for Goldfish. The track is titled Get Busy Living, and the full video is now available for your eyeballing pleasure:
Check out this new music video by Darren Robbie, aka Chopsy. It’s a clever stop-motion effort shot on location around Bristol. The track is Architeq’s Into the Cosmos. Chopsy is an animation director at Aardman Animations.
The Belgian duo known as Eugene and Louise designed and directed this (BirG co-directed) new music video for the band Marble Sounds. The track is titled Skyhigh and full credits are below.

Mike Scott has teamed up again with Goldfish on another music video. You may recall his work on Fort Knox from 2009. Scott’s animation isn’t fluid, but his design and overall creativity make that fact irrelevant. Here’s a teaser for the Get Busy Living video:
