I’m firmly against motion capture as a replacement for key-frame-based animation, but it’s quite evident that motion-capture will open up animation to a whole new group of potential animators. Theo Watson and Emily Gobeille have patched together this DIY, real-time, motion-capture tool using Microsot Kinect. Pretty amazing stuff:
