My Dog Tulip Blossoms Next Week In Toronto

If I were in Toronto next Sunday, I’d be at the first of 3 TIFF screenings of Paul and Sandra Fierlinger’s animated feature My Dog Tulip. The 81-minute film is based on the novel of the same name by J.R Ackerley, and it was animated ENTIRELY by Paul Fierlinger. Sandra painted the background art and also painted the individual images. I noticed one claim on the film’s website that seems inaccurate; that My Dog Tulip is “the first animated feature ever to be entirely hand drawn and painted utilizing paperless computer technology.” I suspect that feat was accomplished several years back, but I’m not sure which was first.
