Francesco Misseri created some of the most enduring children’s animation of the 70s and 80s, using a variety of animation styles. He used sand for his series A.E.I.O.U. and for the 26-episode series Quaq Quao, he used paper. Have a look – his studio, Misseri Studio, has begun uploading his films to a YouTube channel:
