24 Hour Toons Spur Animation Motivation

posted by Aaron

Can’t believe I hadn’t seen the 24 Hour Toons website before. Many universities organize this type of event – a lock-in or a 24 or 48 hour film competition. I love this type of stuff, where an artist is somehow constrained – either by time or topic, or both. And that’s exactly what Joe Pitt and Alex Hirsch have done with their bi-weekly competition – they propose the theme (currently it’s “puppy”), artists are notified (you need to get on the mailing list) and the clock starts ticking. They’ve also set up a YouTube channel and handed out the log-in info so artists can simply upload their work when they finish. Here’s a recent submission by Edward Juan.
