Smith & Foulkes Travel the Road to Safety
Smith & Foulkes, the animation duo behind the Honda Grrr spot (won the Film Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival), are putting safety first in 2009. The UK Department For Transport and Leo Burnett London hired the two, by way of Nexus Productions, to produce a series of CG animated spots for a child road safety campaign. I can imagine this will be an effective effort, as these first two below are haunting, engaging tales of bodily harm - as if Edgar Allan Poe and Tim Burton took the roles of cautious crossing guards. More info and games at the official campaign website.

Want more road safety animation? Back in 2005, Hedgehogs were the mascots for UK road safety.

These are great PSA’s. Very dark in nature. If they are intended to frighten children into compliance I think they’ll be very effective.
